•Drumright knows severe weather firsthand. Tornadoes have struck the town at least twice, killing people and destroying homes, and the surrounding area has been under severe weather warnings 42 times in a single year, with Doppler radar detecting hail in the region on 98 occasions.
•Winter temperatures regularly drop below freezing across central Oklahoma, and dangerous cold snaps can push highs into the single digits. For homes with older or exposed pipes, that is a recipe for a burst.
•Spring storms bring heavy rain and flash flooding. In May 2019, northern Oklahoma received 10 to 20 inches of rain in a single month, causing major and record flooding along numerous rivers.
Summer heat and high humidity create ideal conditions for mold to take hold inside homes. Oklahoma's muggy summer months push indoor moisture levels well above the safe range, especially in older construction.
•Drumright grew almost overnight during the 1912 oil boom, and many of its homes and buildings date back over a century. That aging infrastructure, including original plumbing, makes water damage a serious risk when severe weather rolls through.
